Q. Why should I sign up for a Live Green Toronto Membership Card?

A. Where you spend your money and what you purchase is a big part of living green. Support businesses that want to help make Toronto an even greener city by signing up for a free Live Green Toronto Membership Card. Show your card when you shop at participating businesses in Toronto and get rewarded with exclusive offers and discounts on environmentally friendly products and services.

Q. Who can apply for a Live Green Toronto Membership Card?

A. Anyone who lives, works or shops in the city of Toronto, and is 14 years of age or older can apply for a free membership card.

Q. Does the Live Green Toronto Membership Card cost anything?

A. No. The Live Green Toronto Membership Card is free.

Q. How do I sign up for a Live Green Toronto Membership Card?

A. Please complete our online form to sign up for the membership card, or call 311 to register over the phone.

Q. When will I receive my card?

A. Membership cards are mailed by Canada Post at the beginning of every month. New members can expect their cards to arrive in 4 to 6 weeks.

Q. How does the Live Green Toronto Membership Card work?

A. Visit livegreencard.ca for a list of exclusive offers and discounts on a wide range of environmentally friendly products and services at participating businesses. Next, visit each store – online or in person – and use your card before each transaction.

Q. What kind of discounts can I get with my Live Green Toronto Membership Card?

A. A wide variety of offers are available under seven categories:

Q. How can I keep informed about where to use my Live Green Toronto Membership Card?

A. Visit our website regularly for information about new businesses and special offers. Membership cardholders will also receive monthly e-newsletters and other electronic mailings to keep them informed.

Q. How do you select businesses for the program?

A. Businesses must meet the eligibility requirements and sign the Terms and Conditions before they can participate in the Live Green Toronto Membership Card program. Key requirements are: the business must be located within the city of Toronto, and the business must offer a City-approved exclusive promotion, special offer and/or direct discount on an environmentally friendly product(s) and/or service(s). Businesses can also extend an offer that encourages customers to behave in a more environmentally friendly fashion (e.g. give a discount for bringing in your own takeout container).

Businesses not eligible for the Live Green Toronto Membership Card program include those allied with political parties and those that do not adhere to the standards of the City's Non-Discrimination Policy and the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Q. I'd like to enrol my business in the Live Green Toronto Membership Card program. How can I get started?

Q. Why do you need my e-mail address?

A. Cardholders are sent a monthly e-newsletter, as well as other e-mails to keep them informed of special offers, discounts and other great green news.

Q. I don't have an e-mail address. How will I find out about new offers?

A. New offers and discounts can be found on our website, livegreencard.ca. You can also call the City's customer support team at 311 for more information.

Q. I don’t have internet access. How do I find out where to use my card and other special offers?

A. Members without internet access or a computer are encouraged to visit their local Toronto Public Library for free internet access. You can also call 311 to get information on our latest discounts and offers, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Q. When did the Live Green Toronto Membership Card program start?

A. Membership cards and the website livegreencard.ca launched in November 2010.

Q. Why do I need a card?

A. Our member businesses will ask to see your card in order to honour their special offer or discount. We are committed to providing our cardholders and businesses with a low-cost program and will continue to explore alternative technologies as they become available.

Q. Are the cards made of environmentally friendly material?

A. All cards are made from recycled plastic that would normally end up in landfill.

Q. I received two cards in the mail. What do I do?

Q. Why doesn't my card have my name on it?

A. By not personalizing the cards, we are able to minimize the manufacturing costs and offer the most cost-effective program to our cardholders and member businesses.

Q. You have my wrong name or address on file. How do I change this?

A. Please e-mail us at livegreencard@toronto.ca and we will update our records.

Q. I registered for a card and it never arrived?

A. It takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks to process and mail each card. By the end of this period, if your card has yet to arrive, please e-mail us at livegreencard@toronto.ca.

Q. I lost my card. What do I do?

A. Send an e-mail with your name and contact information to livegreencard@toronto.ca, and you will be contacted by program staff.

Q. I had a problem with a participating business. What do I do?

A. All claims or disputes should be settled directly between the business and the cardholder. If you wish to report your concern, please send the details, along with your name and contact information to livegreencard@toronto.ca.
